The house we spent nearly 10 months building is finally complete. We moved in at the end of September, and it’s been a whirlwind unpacking, organizing and just settling into our new place.
This whole thing started a couple of months after our wedding … we decided it was time to start thinking about our family home. We reached out to our long-time friend Dan O’Dell, with Group O’Dell, to “just look” at different neighborhoods and houses we might like. After a full afternoon one fall weekend exploring different neighborhoods, we decided we didn’t love any of the properties. We did, however, really like a specific part of town that offered a new mixed-use development and surrounding neighborhoods of new construction.
We checked out a few spec homes in a neighborhood we liked and kept coming back to the Bickimer Homes. From there things moved quickly, and we selected a lot to build on and decided on Bickimer’s Jackson II floor plan. We opted to customize it to meet our needs including a finished basement, a fifth full bath and several strategic upgrades.
We can’t say enough about our experience with Bickimer and Group O’Dell – the entire process was MUCH less stressful than we anticipated. And, we’re completely in love with our new home.
Stay tuned for a tour of how I’ve styled the house, and in the meantime check out photos our builder took of the finished property:
