House Building: Paint Color Selections & Upgrades

We’re 39 days from closing on the new house. We’re so close, yet it feels like move-in day is still so far away – mostly because Eric and I are anxious and excited to get settled into our new home. If you recall, we started this process right before Christmas 2017.

It’s been about a month since the last time I shared an update on the progress, so here’s a little sneak peek at where we’re at. The builder just wrapped up all of the interior painting. We chose the following colors throughout the house:

The colors turned out exactly how we wanted – clean, light, modern – and will go nicely with our tile/flooring and lighting finishes. Check out the progress!

view from the front door
formal living room
kitchen with white shaker cabinets
love that we chose to extend our island by a foot and add a double oven
we decided to make one of the pull out drawers adjustable for utensils (not just seasonings) and added under-mount lighting by the gas cooktop and
white built-ins make this space look huge, and we added tech in the ceiling for surround sound
it’s all about the details in this house – rounded corners and arches in main openings
this pantry! (larger than my current master closet) and we added outlets for easy storage for our microwave and toaster
boot bench with lots of storage and check out our doors – we upgraded to five panel throughout to give the house character
stairs down to the finished basement
we decided to add a full bath in the basement and a nook under the stairs for Turk’s hangout
lots of open space and built-in tech for the man cave
we mimicked the island in the kitchen for our basement bar – plenty of space for game-day food!
view from our second floor overlooking the entry
we added an extra linen closet at the end of our upstairs hallway with half shelving and half open space for a vacuum … all of our closets are custom based on our needs for the area of the home (one of the main floor closets has built-in power strips for a hanging dyson, etc
front guest room with attached full bath
second bedroom
jack-and-jill bathroom
jack-and-jill shower
jack-and-jill to other bedroom
third bedroom – I’m obsessed with this super cute window seat
second floor laundry room – the other side of the room has lowers and hanging space
master bedroom

we added a handheld next to the bench in the shower. We also added a handheld to the soaker tub and built-in tech for music/podcasts for getting ready in the morning
so excited for our master closet with three rows (yes three) of hanging space – also, the white box will house an oversized mirror
his and her vanity – we added outlets in the cabinets for toothbrushes, hairdryer, etc.

Stay tuned as the finishes get installed. Our next meeting will be the “new home ownership walk-through”  – eek! So excited!
