Christmas is my all-time favorite time of year. There’s just something magical about the holidays that I love. Getting family and friends together, giving gifts, celebrating and reflecting on the past year, and winter snow. And now, Christmas is even more special for us with Lincoln.
One of my favorite things to do during this time of year is to decorate our home. I always start the holidays early at our house – the tree is usually up before Thanksgiving – and this year was no exception. We traveled to Chicago for Thanksgiving, and we’re in the car on the way to Cincinnati for Christmas as I write this.
For 2019, instead of overhauling with a new theme and color scheme, I added onto design elements I already had – check out last year’s look.
I moved our traditional tree into the front entryway. Our front door has glass panes in it, and now you can see the tree lights from the street.
In our living room, we added a Merry Christmas sign and modern pallet tree we found in the West Bottoms in KC. This was such a fun way to showcase all of the cards our family and friends sent us, as well as artwork Lincoln made at daycare.
I had fun with our mantle this year, adding the “& to all a good night” sign and offsetting new stockings. I keep black and white buffalo check in our living room throughout the year, so adding Denver Plaid and Hamilton Plaid patterns to the room made it more festive for Christmas.
