So we took the weekend off from any DIY projects around the house, but had a full weekend nonetheless.
We spent Saturday morning collecting gently-used bikes at a donation drive to share with kiddos in need. This is the second year we’ve helped collect, clean up and fix bikes, and it’s a cool feeling knowing we’re helping make an impact in our community.
We’ll be at it again volunteering at a second donation day on Saturday, May 7 (details here in case you’d like to stop by).
Saturday night we attended a black-tie event, the Rock Chalk Ball. My alma mater’s annual fundraiser, it was a fun evening of bidding, eating, drinking and dancing. Eric wasn’t feeling too hot but powered through, and we scored an awesome deal on a package for engagement photos. Stay tuned for how that goes!
We kicked off Sunday spending the day with my brother and his girlfriend, grabbing lunch at Q39 – one of KC’s top BBQ spots, and then headed to the Royals game.
The weather was great and we all enjoyed catching some sun and relaxing a bit. Have to love scoring comp tickets with amazing seats and a parking pass … it’s all about the parking pass.
The weekend came to a close with Eric and I spending time on the deck grilling and hanging with Turk, the pug.
Next weekend’s plans? No idea yet. Maybe a relaxing weekend … nah.
