Do you ever feel like us where you just need a few days to unwind and unplug? It’s such a busy time of year … with work, the wedding, moving and everything in between …
For us, a weekend at the lake was a perfect way to just get away and relax. About three hours from KC, Baring Country Club is small and private lake community and has been a go-to spot in J’s family for generations.
From fishing and grilling out to antiquing and boating, we got our fair share of good food, family time and the opportunity to “unplug” – literally. Cell phone service is pretty spotty at the lake; we joke that it depends on what direction the wind is blowing to get coverage.
We started out the weekend celebrating birthdays for Eric and Debbie (J’s mom) – thanks for the awesome homemade cake, Debbie!
On Saturday, we got the ski boat into the water, spent time playing fetch with Rocky and enjoyed lots of fresh air. The guys played a round of golf, and the ladies spent the afternoon antiquing before an evening of stormy weather.
On Sunday, we spent most of the afternoon on the pontoon boat fishing, catching some sun and practicing our “party barge” skills for the Fourth of July boat parade (aka J’s brother doing tricks off the side of the boat).
By Sunday evening, we were all feeling a little worn out. E spent some time fishing (carp and cat fish), while taking in the sun setting across the cove.
Overall, it was a much-needed weekend, and while we’re back in town this evening mowing the lawn, doing laundry, prepping for the week and back to total connectivity … we’re little more rested and relaxed.
