Bride Tribe

It’s been a while since my last post, and the past several weeks have completely changed me. Life has its way of reminding you how important it is to tell those around you that you love them, to take care and make time for yourself, and to live in the moment.

This past weekend was one of the most incredible weekends. All of the amazing women in my family came together to enjoy such a precious time with me as I said, “yes to the dress.”

My future mother-in-law (Sharon) and sister-in-law (Liz) flew in from Cincinnati, and my grandma and aunt came in from Chicago to spend the weekend with my mom, aunts, grandma and me.

On Friday, my mom, Sharon, Liz and I met one of my bridesmaids, Jacey, at Bella Bridesmaids to explore a few options for dresses. We all fell in love with the Amsale styles in a beautiful rich jewel-toned color. Liz and Jacey were such troopers trying on dozens of dresses before we landed on the right ones.

On Saturday, the “Bride Tribe” of 11 of us started the day with brunch at one of my favorite spots, Room 39. After a bit of shopping at Kincaid Antiques & Interiors, we headed to All My Heart Bridal to try on some fabulous wedding gowns.

We got to our bridal appointment a bit early, so we had fun picking out our favorite dresses, looking at all of the veils, belts and tiaras, and guessing which dress would be “the one.”

Sarah, the owner of the boutique, helped make our day so special and fun. After lots of ooo’s and ahhh’s (and a few uhh’s), I fell in love with the most perfect gown.

We popped some bubbly to celebrate, and headed to a girls’ happy hour hosted by my aunt Robyn. Robyn created the most fabulous spread of snacks and appetizers, and my favorite sangria. We enjoyed an afternoon of laughter, great conversation and time on the patio.

We closed the evening with dinner for everyone at our house made by my amazing fiancé.

I am truly blessed to have so many people around me who care for me deeply. Family means everything to me, and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to experience this moment … surrounded by those whom I love so much.
